Residency program at Relay Art Space in Santa Fe

Relay X is a residency program for creative upstarts, innovators, and established organizations who are developing new ways to reach their audience and meet the needs of their communities through art, entertainment, technology, and mutual aid.
It's a class you want to teach. An idea or offering you want to develop. A series you want to run. A show you want to create.
You bring the idea. Relay brings a purpose-built space, lots of amenities, technical and production support, and a community that shows up. The purpose is to experiment and test new ideas - grow an audience, learn what works, and figure out where it goes next and how it can create lasting impact and meaning.
It works for individuals just getting something off the ground, for artists that are breaking into a new concept or idea, and established organizations that want to try new formats and grow their audience. Relay is designed as a venue to adapt to the needs of our programming and reach an audience, with a growing constellation of supporters, volunteers, and subject matter experts to help you define, refine, and showcase your work.
We run cohorts of 3-5 individuals or organizations every 3-6 months depending on scope and need. We review applications ongoing and work with candidates to scope and plan in advance where there is a strong match.
Ways To Be In Residence

Recurring Residency:
A consistent day or days for regular programming during a residency period. This can include programming like a weekly class, a monthly series, a recurring session, and other formats. You build a rhythm, and we grow your audience together.

Production Residency:
An extended run to produce and present something bigger. This can include programming like an exhibition that runs for several weeks up to a month, a unique room-scale installation, a performance series, a multi-day immersive popup experience.
The space becomes yours for the duration, with Relay's production support and volunteer network behind it.
What You Get
The space: A purpose-built creative flex space in the Siler-Rufina District. Approximately 2,800 square feet with movable dividers, gallery walls, and staging, designed to morph and adapt to whatever your programming needs.
An audience: A year-round community built through ongoing exhibitions, events, workshops, and public programs.
Infrastructure: A high-quality sound system, house DMX lighting grid expandable to accommodate your own lighting configuration, a kitchenette, projectors, tables, and comfortable seating for up to 100 attendees.
Ticketing and box office: A ticketing platform, plus door and sales operations when you need them.
Promotion: Relay's newsletter, social channels, website, and community networks working for your program.
Production support: Hands-on technical help and general consulting, from load-in to show call.

How It Works
Propose: Tell us what you want to make or run.
Shape: We scope it together -> schedule, support, and terms.
Run: Produce your programming with Relay's platform behind you.
Grow: Make an impact, capture feedback, build your audience. Residencies run for the time it takes to learn what works, and can be extended as needed.
